EXPLORING BALI WITH MYPAL ROAM BY PHILIPPINES AIRLINES
Exploring Bali was definitely on our bucketlist. Seeing pictures online really made it our next go-to destination, and we finally got the opportunity to work with Philippine Airlines on a cool project in Bali. Staying connected can sometimes be a huge struggle when traveling abroad; we constantly search for free wifi in convenience stores or restaurants or hotels, and we're too afraid to use our roaming data because we all know how hidden charges can kick us in the butt when we get back to the Philippines. Lucky for us, we had Philippine Airlines' new hotspot device, the myPAL Roam.
We explored Uluwatu and ended up on a cliffside with the most beautiful view. The coast of Bali was amazing and where we were standing was perfect. There is a small trail going down that leads to the beach that is completely unspoiled, and empty, we were the only ones there. Comparing to beaches in the Philippines, Bali waves are much stronger depending on the beach, but in the Uluwatu Coast, it would be almost impossible to take a dip where we were.
The Uluwatu temple has the most beautiful view and sunset in our whole stay in Bali. Did we mention, Monkey Thieves? Beware of the Monkeys that steal your things! The most common things we saw being stolen were, glasses yanked out of your head or face, cellphones, food, and even slippers! Monkeys are everywhere in the Uluwatu Temple because of the lush forests that surround the whole place, and to be honest, they are very aggressive, but also sociable. MyPAL roam really helped us stay connected the whole day in our whole trip. We were able to answer emails, connect with family, and also use google maps whenever we got lost.
We also visited different parts of the city, namely Seminyak, Kuta & Canggu. Seminyak & Canggu is definitely somewhere we would feel most at home. Walking around in beach clothes, bikinis, holding surfboards, eating burgers, drinking shakes, and socializing with people from different parts of the world is something you can do in these areas. Plus, the shops are amazing! Everything you have ever seen on your instagram can be found in Bali.
The overall vibe of Bali is definitely laid back with a touch of cool. We would describe it as a place that is picturesque, and has its own character. It pays to visit places that aren't so tourist-y to get to the heart of a place. After we visited the nice temples and cliffsides and beaches, we always make it a point to visit alot more hidden gems. Exploring like a local gives a whole new perspective when traveling to a different country.
While scouting for more places to shoot for our project, we came across this cute little place that houses a group of stores and restaurants and we decided we would film some scenes here. A man came up to us and offered us some drinks to order and asked where we were from. As we got talking, we found out he was british and he moved to Bali to build this beautiful place BY HAND. Sadly, we did not get his name and also the name of the whole place, because we were so distracted by how beautiful it was.
Philippine Airlines launched their new device, the myPAL Roam last July 20, and to be honest it really helped us abroad to stay connected to family, use all our social media apps and of course, Maps!
